This page explains, in plain terms, what our calculators and content are for and what they are not for.

Not financial, tax or legal advice

Pay Calculator Australia is a free information and calculator website. Nothing on this site, including our take-home pay, income tax, hourly rate and other calculators, and every article on this site, is financial, tax, legal or accounting advice. It is general information only, and it does not take into account your personal circumstances, objectives or financial situation.

Before making a decision based on anything you read or calculate here, we recommend you speak to the Australian Taxation Office, Fair Work Ombudsman, or a registered tax agent, accountant or financial adviser who can consider your specific situation.

Our calculators give estimates

Our calculators use the tax rates, thresholds, superannuation rates and other figures published by the Australian Taxation Office and Fair Work Ombudsman for the relevant financial year, current as at the date each page was last verified. They are designed to give a close estimate for a full year at a steady income.

Your actual pay, tax and entitlements can differ from our estimates because of factors the calculator cannot know, including:

  • Your employer’s specific PAYG withholding settings and payroll software
  • Overtime, bonuses, allowances or irregular income
  • Salary sacrifice arrangements, novated leases or other pre-tax deductions
  • Multiple employers or income sources
  • Personal tax offsets, deductions or specific circumstances
  • Changes to tax rates or thresholds since this page was last reviewed

A real payslip or a notice of assessment from the ATO is always the accurate record of what you have been paid or what you owe. Our calculators are a planning tool, not a substitute for either.

Accuracy and updates

We check the figures used in our calculators and articles against official sources, including the Australian Taxation Office, Fair Work Ombudsman and the Australian Bureau of Statistics, and we show a “last verified” date on each page. Tax rates and thresholds are typically updated by the government each financial year, usually from 1 July, and we aim to update our figures promptly when this happens. However, we do not guarantee that every page reflects the very latest change at all times, and we recommend checking the ATO or Fair Work directly for the most current official rates.

Expert review

Some of our calculators and content have been reviewed by James Wilson, CPA and registered Tax Agent, for the accuracy of the tax rules and rates applied. Where shown, this review relates specifically to the figures and calculation logic described on that page. It does not constitute personal advice to you, and James Wilson is not providing advice to individual users of this website through that review.

No liability

To the extent permitted by law, we accept no responsibility or liability for any loss, damage or inconvenience arising from reliance on the information or calculators on this site. See our Terms of Use for the full terms governing use of this site.
