About Pay Calculator Australia
Pay Calculator Australia was built to answer one simple question clearly: how much of your pay actually lands in your bank account.
Why we built this
Most pay calculators either hide the working behind a single number, or they get buried in options most people never need. We wanted something different: a calculator that shows the full picture, gross pay, income tax, the Medicare levy, superannuation and any HECS or HELP repayment, so you can see exactly where your money goes rather than just the final figure.
We also noticed how often people asked why a calculator’s result did not match their actual payslip. That question shaped a lot of what we built. Alongside the calculators, we write plain-English guides explaining the Australian tax and pay system, why your take-home pay might look different from what you expected, and how things like super, casual loading and tax residency actually work.
What our calculators do
Pay Calculator Australia offers free tools covering:
- Take-home pay and net pay after tax
- Income tax, worked out bracket by bracket
- Converting between hourly, weekly, fortnightly, monthly and annual pay
- Superannuation, the Medicare levy, and HECS or HELP repayments
Every calculator uses current rates for the 2026-27 Australian financial year, sourced from the Australian Taxation Office and Fair Work Ombudsman. We show a “last verified” date on each page so you know how current the figures are, and we update them whenever the government changes the rules, most often each 1 July.
Your calculations happen entirely in your browser. We do not ask you to sign up, and we do not see or store the figures you enter. You can read more in our Privacy Policy.
How we keep it accurate
Getting the numbers right matters to us, because this is money content and people use it to plan real decisions. The tax rules and 2026-27 figures used in our calculators have been reviewed by James Wilson, CPA and registered Tax Agent with the Tax Practitioners Board, and Director of Australian Tax Advisors on the Gold Coast, Queensland. You can read more about our approach on our Methodology page.
Every figure links back to an official source, including the ATO, Fair Work Ombudsman and the Australian Bureau of Statistics, and we would rather say “we’re not sure, check with the ATO” than present a guess as fact.
Who this site is for
Pay Calculator Australia is built for anyone who wants a clear answer about their pay: employees checking a payslip, people weighing up a job offer, casual and part-time workers converting an hourly rate, students on a HECS debt, working holiday makers navigating a different tax scale, and anyone who just wants to know what a raise or a new role would actually mean for their bank account.
A note on what we are not
We are not the Australian Taxation Office, and we are not a substitute for a registered tax agent or financial adviser. Everything on this site is general information and estimates, not personal advice. See our Disclaimer for the full detail, and if you need advice for your specific situation, speak with the ATO or a registered tax professional.
